Skin Pack Boards
Skin Packaging is form of packaging where a product (or products) are placed onto a piece of cardboard and a thin sheet of transparent plastic film is placed over the product and drawn down via vacuum onto the cardboard.
The printed or plain cardboard has a heat-seal skin-pack coating applied to it. The plastic film is softened by heat and a vacuum is applied to assist a firm draw down around the product. The film bonds to the heat-seal coating on the cardboard. The skin-packed piece of cardboard is then cut into individual units sometimes with a euro slot or round hole for product merchandising.
Skin Packing can be a cheaper alternative to Blister Packaging as there are less set up costs relating to tooling costs for the card and for a blister. You can also use a generic printed backing board and use this for a wide variety of your products.
With low set up costs and low material costs, skin packing is an option that should be always considered and your representative will be able to assist and advise you with your project.
