Humble beginnings

Since our founder Ray Jones, first experimented in the basement of a building with two old, borrowed letterpress machines, Ultragraph has grown into a comprehensive full service print & packaging production facility in Burscough, Lancashire.

The old photograph shown is of the building Ray bought around 1980. It was located on a former RAF air base and the building we believe was a maintenance building of some sort.

RAF Ringtail was passed for conversion into an industrial estate and Ultragraph was one of the very first business to re-locate there. Nick who was only a young lad, recalls that there weren't even any proper roads at first! He recalls his Dad working until all hours getting the building renovated so they could move in.

Once moved in Ray steadily grew the business throughout the eighties encompassing design, commercial print and packaging manufacture along the way fully embracing lithographic printing, digital artwork and in-house colour origination.

Progression.

Our current MD, Nick Jones took over from Ray in 1993 after learning all aspects of the trade from artworking, colour origination, printing and finishing.

Nick set about building a youthful and dynamic team for the future evolving into the highly skilled and experienced team that works within the business today.

In 1999 a factory on the same industrial estate was purchased and this is where the business is based today.
